Whether it is Portfolio Roadmap Strategy, Program Increment Release Planning or Project Timeline, it is important for anyone to develop skills to build and present a brief timeline. It helps one to foresee the big picture.
A good plan can help with risk analysis, but it cannot guarantee the smooth running of the project.
Pictorial representation enables the comparison of Planned vs Actual which triggers root cause & and in turn effective decision making.
Most of the time, we struggle to present the timeline to the management and end with up lot of editing & formatting.
Recently got acquainted with the DIY tool that helps in creating timeline just in 10 min.
At the individual level, for creating a simple timeline with the limitation of 10 tasks, you can use the Free version.
At the organization level, there is Pro & Plus License paid version with the options to integrate with Smartsheet / MS Project / MS Excel to import the data instantly in PowerPoint.
The tool is none other the Office Timeline Addin in PowerPoint. Check out the timelines I have created using the Free edition of the tool.
