Why Am I Passionate about PMO

Someone asked why you are passionate about PMO….

I love talking…. Yes,

I love talking to people. And in the PMO, I get to talk to many different people from all around the organization.

It has given me a unique perspective on the business and how different teams are working together to achieve our goals.

The PMO is constantly evolving, and that’s one of the things I love most about it.

We’re always looking for new ways to improve our processes and make a bigger impact on the organization.

PMO is evolving constantly

Supportive -> Controlling -> Directive-> Strategic

Involvement of the PMO encompasses in areas below but is not limited to:

  • Org Business Strategy alignment
  • Portfolio Roadmap oversight
  • Client Engagement support
  • Program Delivery Management
  • Project Governance (Doing The Things Right)
  • Process Governance (Doing the Right Things)
  • Automation & Innovation
  • Standardization efforts
  • Information management
  • Driving Business Transformation
  • Leading Change Initiatives
  • Continual engagement across cross functions

This evolutionary journey adds a layer of intrigue that makes working in the PMO truly fascinating.

Working in the PMO also means that I’m constantly learning new things. I need to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in order to be effective in my role.

This keeps me challenged and engaged, and it helps me to grow as a professional.

Another thing I love about the PMO is the diverse career path that it offers.

There are many different roles and opportunities available, so you can find a path that’s a good fit for your skills and interests.

  • Being in PMO, we need to up-skill and adapt to evolving technology.
    • Focus on Agile Methodologies
    • Stay updated on Cloud Computing Services.
    • Embrace New Product Development
    • Utilize Data Analytics tools like Power BI
    • Engage in automation using Power Apps and Power Automate
    • Continuously evolve and adapt to changes in technology
    • AI Governance

For example, you could focus on portfolio management, resource management or change management at Domain level.

You could also work on specific projects or programs, or you could take on a more strategic role within the PMO.

No matter what path you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the organization.

The PMO is responsible for driving business transformation and delivering results, so your work will have a direct impact on the bottom line.

If you’re looking for a challenging and rewarding career, I encourage you to consider the PMO.

It’s a great place to learn new things, grow as a professional, and make a real impact on the organization.

Here are some additional thoughts on why I’m passionate about the PMO:

  • Personal growth: The PMO is a great place to learn and grow as a professional. You’ll have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, collaborate with talented people, and develop your leadership skills.

You don’t need to follow a specific path to become a successful PMO leader.

No matter how you start your PMO journey, remember that the most important skills to have are:
