These days, everyone is talking about Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer), DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, Prompt Engineering, AI Chatbots, Image Generation, AI-Powered Tools, Reinforcement Learning, Supervised Learning, Unsupervised Learning, AI Ethics, AI Applications, Data Augmentation, Training Data, AI Model Training and so on.

However, in this post, we will focus only on Prompt Engineering.

  • Context: Provide relevant background or context.
  • Examples: Include examples or scenarios.
  • Personalization: Tailor the prompt to the specific situation.
  • Format: Specify the format or structure.
  • Style / Tone: Set the tone for the response (Formal, Informal, Trendy).
  • Role: Imagine yourself as a role model.
  • Length: Expectations on the content length (words, chars, sentences, paragraphs).

Action-Oriented Insights: Action Words for Effective Prompts

Action words serve as the backbone of effective prompts, guiding the AI model’s response and directing its focus toward specific tasks or objectives.

From “crafting” compelling narratives to “analyzing” datasets and “recommending” strategies, these action words drive the narrative and shape the outcome of generative AI interactions.

By incorporating action words strategically, individuals can enhance the clarity, relevance, and efficiency of prompts in achieving desired outcomes.

  • Change: “Change the approach to [task].”
  • Include: “Include more details about [topic].”
  • Clarify: “Clarify the meaning of [term].”
  • Combine: “Combine ideas to create a comprehensive solution.”
  • Make: “Make adjustments to improve [process].”
